FIORUCCI POSTER Woman Peeking by Oliviero Toscani – When Pop Culture and Fashion Collide into something quite Unique and Wonderful. THIS POSTER IS EXTREMELY RARE – I HAVE AT LEAST TWO IN MY COLLECTION OF SEVERAL YOU WILL FIND NOWHERE ELSE. The label of Fiorucci was founded by Elio Fiorucci in 1967. His early work in Milan showed the swinging style of London and he reimagined the designs for t-shirts and jeans. By the late 1970’s Fiorucci changed direction and began a stylistic position that was more European. His store was known as the daytime Studio 54 and was surrounded by the likes of Andy Warhol and Madonna. He scoured the globe for ideas and introduced new styles. He popularized camouflage and the leopard-skin prints and went on to make stretch jeans. In his heyday in his store on East 59th Street between Lexington and Park in Manhattan his customers included Cher, Jackie Onassis, Lauren Bacall, the King of Spain, Warhol and many others. From all of this fashion forward thinking of Fiorucci came the posters that were often designs that were on t-shirts, trays and any number of other items marketed by Fiorucci. They are an iconic symbol of his individuality, creativity and his wonderful sense of shock that was often badges of courage in those years of the late 60’s and 70’s and of the sexual revolution occurring then.
