Lamp fitting and shade will make her taller A rare and fabulous retro table lamp which was produced by artist/sculptor George Barsony. She is just capivating… This figurative lamp is known as’The Can Can Lady’… Dressed to thrill in a stunning red and white can can dress with matching stilettos… Her headdress is decorated with splashes of blue and white and red… The lady is further embellished vibrant red lips.. You can see how alive with movement she is.. As the years pass, these amazing items become more precious… Pieces are damaged, lost or collections are broken up. The good news for collectors is that quality pieces should not only hold their value but increase over time. Excellent vintage condition commensurate for age and use. Missing a shade and earrings, both are easily replaced. A few teeny marks here and there, (see photos for further description) nothing to spoil her though… Any imperfections mentioned are minor and do not detract from the impact of the lamp. Missing shade and earrings….. Wiring and plug is original and working… Bulb does not sit entirely straight but works fine. Barsony Ceramics manufactured a prolific amount of decorative items over the next two decades and their signature designs were hugely popular. These were made in various forms such as vases, wall hangings, figurines and bookends. The most popular items were the’Black Lady’ Lamps. Each piece was hand painted with bright colours and a variety of series was created over time… Ballerina, Hawaiian, Volcano and much more… Their graceful sculpted forms added a certain elegance to each unique item and often further decoration of bright red lips and earrings were added..
